The Pegasus Tarot Spread

pegasus

Pegasus is the descendant of the Sea God Poseidon and the Gorgon Medusa, born after Perseus beheaded Medusa. According to one legend, Pegasus sprang from the decapitated head of Medusa and according to another, Pegasus emerged from the ground soaked by the blood of Medusa.

The symbology of the good-natured Pegasus is tied with divine/heavenly inspiration.

The nine Muses are associated with Pegasus. Legend has it that Pegasus created springs of inspiration by tapping the wall of with his hoof. Mount Helicon is where the Muses resided.

Zeus gave Pegasus the task to carry thunder and lightning from Mount Olymp to Earth. For his loyal service, Zeus turned him into a constellation in the northern sky. The brightest star in the Pegasus constellation is known as Epsilon Pegasi and it is located at the muzzle.

Sample Reading with the Shaman Tarot

Check out me review of the Shaman Tarot HERE
  1. Queen of Wands (Spirit of Mother Snake) – In the Shaman Tarot, this Queen is someone who never forgets an insult, so I’m guessing resentment might be creating a block to the flow of inspiration.
  2. The Lovers (Love) – Here the snake brings union instead of separation. I need to allow the creative process to bring me closer to my inner Muse and who I really am by allowing love to guide me.
  3. 8 of Pentacles/Drums (Possession) – I feel this may be quite literal in the sense that dance frees up creative energy for me. I also see this as allowing a Higher Power to take over and operating as a channel for divine energy which is what I aspire to do.
  4. Justice (Punishment) – What truly motivates me is to stay attuned to the forces that create karmic balance. I believe that justice prevails when we speak the truth and strive to protect the innocent.
