You aren’t your work, your accomplishments, your possessions, your home, your family… your anything. You’re a creation of your Source, dressed in a physical human body intended to experience and enjoy life on Earth. ~ Wayne Dyer

The picture above showed up in my FB feed this morning so I’m using it as inspiration for our daily Unicorn Guidance reading. My question for the unicorns is, ‘How can we make life less pain and more pain au chocolat?’
Seeing a repeat of yesterday’s playful Page of Wands comes as no surprise! Playing more and working less is definitely a recipe for less pain… but wait! The Knight of Pentacles tells us that we can find joy in the work we do too. We just need to make sure that we don’t carry out tasks that are meaningless or take on burdens that aren’t ours to deal with (10 of Wands).
The Knight of Pentacles combines with Nature from the Oracle of the Unicorns for a message which can best be summed up by the following quote:Slow down and enjoy life. It's not only the scenery you miss by going to fast - you also miss the sense of where you are going and why. ~ Eddie Cantor Click To Tweet
One of the best ways to take the pain out of life is to realise that we are not separate from Nature but at one with Her. Her beauty is our beauty. It is through distancing ourselves from Nature through over-reliance on technology and by silently being complicit in her exploitation that we injure ourselves most gravely.
The ‘chocolat’ of life that Frenchifies the ‘pain’ can be found in every single moment. You have to decide to look for it and when you find it, to savour it. A great film that will give you a real sense of this just happens to be French… I’m talking about Amélie, of course.
On the converse, in the 10 of Wands we can also see the result of addiction to sensual pleasure, as alternative meaning to simply being burned out by being overworked. But we must remember that the enjoyment of sensual pleasures itself is not evil… It’s our attitude to it, which is either one of divine gratitude and innocence or greed, licentiousness and a dull mind’s attempt to stave off boredom.
Physical pleasure is a sensual experience no different from pure seeing or the pure sensation with which a fine fruit fills the tongue; it is a great unending experience, which is given us, a knowing of the world, the fullness and the glory of all-knowing. And not our acceptance of it is bad; the bad thing is that most people misuse and squander this experience and apply it as a stimulant at the tired spots of their lives and as distraction instead of a rallying toward exalted moments.
